In the early 1970s, muscle cars hit the wall of emissions regulations and disappeared for decades. At the New York Auto Show, there was a sense of déjà vu. Dodge had its Challengers, Pontiac launched its G8 GXP and Sport Truck and Chevrolet, although still waiting for the Camaro had the Corvette ZR1.
BUYING a new car instead of a secondhand one could save drivers as much as 25% on their motoring costs in the first year of ownership. These savings come from cheaper insurance, lower road tax costs, improved fuel economy and no MoT test. Comparing a brand new Volkswagen Golf with a five-year old model, the new car reduces the annual spend on motoring from £1689 to £1267, saving £422 in the first year of ownership.

Throughout all of last year’s snow we lost count of the number of times we were asked if winter tyres were a good idea. You see, winter tyres are not something the Brits know much about.
